1. Uninstall and reinstall the Drivers and Software to resolve this issue.

Uninstall the Brother Drivers and Software and Uninstall the printer drivers (For Windows®)
The following instructions will help you completely uninstall the printer driver. It is strongly recommended that you close all other applications before beginning the uninstall process. You must be logged on with administrator rights.
  • If you installed the driver from the Brother CD or Full Driver & Software Package, go to Case 1.
  • If you installed the driver using the Add Printer Wizard or Found New Hardware Wizard, go to Case 2.



Case 1: If you installed the driver from the Brother CD or Full Driver & Software Package.
  • (Windows® 2000 / Windows® XP / Windows Vista® / Windows® 7)
  • (Windows® 8 or later)
(Windows® 2000 / Windows® XP / Windows Vista® / Windows® 7)
1. Click Start.
2. Click All Programs (Programs).

3. Search for the Brother program group. It will be named Brother.
4. Choose XXX-XXXX (your model name) => Uninstall from the list.
NOTE: For Windows Vista® and Windows® 7 users, when the User Account Control screen appears, click Allow or Yes.

5. The Brother MFL-Pro Uninstaller window will appear.
For USB cable users, ensure that the Brother machine is powered on and connected to your computer.
6. Click OK. The uninstallation will now continue. Follow the screen directions. You may be prompted to confirm the uninstall procedure.
7. Once the uninstallation is complete, you will see a window stating: For successful uninstallation, you must restart Windows.
For USB cable users, disconnect the cable from the Brother machine.
8. Choose "Yes, I want to restart my computer now." and click Finish to restart your computer.

(Windows® 8 or later)

1. (Windows® 8)
Click On the Start screen 

If   is not on the Start screen, right-click somewhere on an empty spot (1), and then click, All Apps from the bar (2).

(Windows® 10)
Click  (Start) => All apps => Brother.

2. Click Brother Utilities.
3. Select your model name from the pulldown list.
4. Choose Tools and then click UnInstall.
NOTE: When the User Account Control screen appears, click Allow or Yes.

5. The Brother MFL-Pro Uninstaller window will appear.
For USB cable users, ensure that the Brother machine is powered on and connected to your computer.
6. Click OK. The uninstallation will now continue. Follow the screen directions. You may be prompted to confirm the uninstall procedure.
7. Once the uninstallation is complete, you will see a window stating: For successful uninstallation, you must restart Windows.
For USB cable users, disconnect the cable from the Brother machine.
8. Choose "Yes, I want to restart my computer now." and click Finish to restart your computer.


Case 2: If you installed the driver using the Add Printer Wizard or Found New Hardware Wizard.

  1. Make a temporary folder on your HDD as location to save the downloaded self-extracting file. e.g. C:\bront  
  2. Click here to download the uninstall tool. Please note that the uninstall tool is intended for local interface users.
  3. Once downloading is completed, double click the downloaded file to extract it.
  4. "The decompression process was successful." will appear. Click OK.
  5. A folder will be created in the temporary folder created in Step 1.
  6. Open the folder and double click "BrRemPnP.exe". "Brother Device Driver Uninstall Tool " dialog box will appear. NOTE: For Windows Vista® or later users, when the User Account Control screen appears, click Allow or Yes.
  7. Select your model name from the pulldown list and click OK.
  8. The uninstall has been completed successfully." will appear. Click OK.
